A3 Printed Colour Profile - HMS Nelson 1942

Professionally printed A3 matte full-colour print showing camouflage scheme on HMS Nelson during 1942.

This suggested colour scheme has been developed by reference to numerous black & white photographs to map the design of the scheme and its relative tones and contrasts. In addition, once the number of paints present and the most likely tone of each was where possible agreed, these were compared to surviving colour cinefilm footage taken during Op Pedestal in the Mediterranean in September 1942. Using this footage to study the hue of the colours observed, the authors were able to arrive at the suggested palette given the authorised paints available to ships in the Royal Navy at this time.

Colour profiles are sent rolled in tubes, not folded. Whilst the quality of the printing is good and the colours illustrative without being misleading, we caution that some difference in colour fidelity is expected as compared to the recommended Colourcoats paints.
